Alter Enersun, a leading company in the renewable energy sector, launched the project called Huelva 2021, a new photovoltaic plant located in the municipality of Huelva. With the addition of this new plant, Alter Enersun has already installed 100 MWp in the province, which will generate sustainable electricity equivalent to the energy consumption of the entire population of the Huelva municipality.
Huelva 2021 is a 50 MWp park with a total of 113,686 solar panels that will produce 100 GWh per year. The production of the plant represents the equivalent consumption of a total of 28,000 households. In addition, the construction and commissioning of this new facility, during the months of the pandemic, has generated employment for more than 250 people, while creating 10 permanent long-term jobs.
The company GES, of the same business group, has been in charge of managing the construction work of this plant, which involves an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract consisting of a photovoltaic park, electrical substation and evacuation line.
More than 180,000 tons of CO2 reduced per year
Always with the aim of continuing to move towards a fully sustainable energy and business model, the Huelva 2021 photovoltaic plant intends to reduce CO2 emissions by 94,400 tons each year, taking conventional coal as a calculation reference.
This is the second photovoltaic project that Alter Enersun has launched in the province of Huelva. It was in December 2019 when the company inaugurated Huelva 2020, the first photovoltaic plant located in the town of Gibraleón. A plant of another 50 MWp and also with CO2 emission reduction targets of 94,400 tons per year.
Local Economic Impact
The construction and commissioning of Huelva 2021 has a clear local economic impact. In terms of taxes and fees during the construction period, the plant has involved an investment of 2,783,755 euros that has fallen on the public administrations. To this is added what it will mean in the operating period, which, based on an estimate of 35 years, will mean a contribution of 5,250,000 euros.
Official opening
For its official inauguration of this plant, the company held an event on 31/07/21 in which the President of Alter Enersun, Ricardo Leal; the CEO of Alter Enersun, José Luis Morlanes; the mayor of Huelva, Gabriel Cruz Santana; the delegate of the Andalusian Government in Huelva, Bella Verano; the Director General of Energy of the Ministry of Doing and European Financing of the Junta de Andalucía, Manuel Larrasa; the CEO of Bruc Energy, Luis Venero; among others.
During the event, Morlanes took the opportunity to recall the opportunity that Spain has at this time to become a power in clean energy, for which he assured, Alter Enersun will continue to bet on renewable energies.
