Alter Enersun, a leading company in the renewable energy sector, held the groundbreaking ceremony for the new photovoltaic plant located in the municipality of Barcarrota, in Badajoz (Extremadura), which is expected to be completed in 2022.
It is a plant with more than 22,000 modules, with a power of 12.25 MWp and which will generate approximately 25GWh per year, a figure that is equivalent to the energy supply of more than 7,000 families. In addition, the construction and maintenance of the facility will employ more than 70 people, while 4 will be the number of permanent employees it will have after its commissioning.
The opening ceremony was attended by the mayor of Barcarrota, Alfonso C. Macías Gata, and also by Raúl Garcia Méndez, director of Alter Enersun.
With the Barcarrota plant, savings of 23,600 tons of CO2 emissions will be achieved annually, taking the comparison with conventional coal as a reference.
